Our Mission,

The mission of the Second Chance Development Cyber Café  is a non-profit (501C3)organization that encourage a love of technology and its role in our lives, to empower all students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in a digital world, to inspire creativity and to promote lifelong learning in a fun, safe and caring environment and to provide innovative, cutting edge technical training in the most flexible environment available. Our goal is to provide a creative and safe out-of-school learning environment where young people from underserved communities work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop new skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology.

The Second Chance Development Cyber Café  supports community-based networks by providing start-up support, professional development, new technology innovations, evaluation and assessment, partnership opportunities, and access to an online community for youth, mentors, and staff and to successfully educate and prepare individuals seeking a career in Information Technology and Business Office Applications for  a variety of computer environments. Our unique way of training provides the individual with the highest level of flexibility, providing learning which is in high demand by students who need to remain in the workforce while they train.

We are committed to providing individuals the training needed to transition into jobs in Business Office Applications as well as other areas in the computer industry. Engaging in meaningful exploration, invention, self-discovery, and collaboration through STEM, digital media, and the arts. Educate and train students with the current equipment found in today’s automated offices.

Prepare students to attain the knowledge that are in demand with employers and in School.

Assist students in developing their technical skills to meet industry standards.

Provide students with the most skilled and experienced staff available who are devoted to the personal and career development of every student.

Offer assistance in resume writing and placement assistance services in the pursuit of securing employment.

 

The Second Chance Development Cyber Café  our vision, is inspiring and exciting young people from underserved communities to develop fluency in technology and become self-motivated and confident learners through hands-on, participatory experiences that make learning relevant, meaningful, and fun.

SCDF  will increase young people’s opportunities to build fulfilling careers by enabling them to develop advanced technological skills, inspiring them to pursue higher education and explore potential careers in scientific and technical fields, and providing ongoing positive experiences with adult mentors who serve as role models.

SCDF  will provide educators, community leaders, with a model for the use of technology as a tool for design, experimentation, self-expression, creativity, and collaboration in a learning community.
